A Program of the Big Sur Arts Initiative and The Big Sur Land Trust

2009 Big Sur Artist in Residence Program has been postponed

Glen Deven Artist StudioThe Big Sur Arts Initiative and The Big Sur Land Trust are dedicated to advancing the work of professional artists in California, and have collaborated to create an Artist in Residence program in Big Sur at Glen Deven Ranch. The vision of the program is to support professional artists with intensive studio time and a small stipend in a quiet and beautiful location, with the purpose of:

  • supporting a California artist with time, space and the inspiration of Big Sur to develop a body of work, and
  • bringing creative vitality to Monterey County and specifically the community of Big Sur.

The Artist-in-Residence program grants one professional artist an eight-week residency with free housing in a private artist studio and a $3000 stipend each fall and spring.  The program is designed to support emerging or mid-career visual artists who are seeking an opportunity such as this to substantially boost their career and who are attracted to work in nature and in Big Sur.

The 2009 Artist-in-Residence that begins on September 6th and concludes November 2nd
